Localised Repair
New techniques make Metso quick and cost effective
Edge wear in Yankee dryers is the most common cause of reduced cylinder life. By
applying a wear-resistant coating to the edges using advanced thermal spraying
techniques, the cycle between re-grinds is increased and cylinder life extended.
The combination of expertise, the ability to react quickly and the quality of
service is a cornerstone of Metso's success. Metso guarantees to send out a
team within 24 hours in emergencies, working around the clock to reduce downtime
and to help you "make paper" with the minimum delay.
Metso has perfected a low-cost method for the repair of Yankee surface
imperfections. No longer is the antiquated process of drilling and plugging the
quickest and most economical solution. Metso's localized repair technique is
the culmination of our research, and employs a powder flame spray system.
Using this method, surface imperfections can be quickly repaired. Completion of
the repair is accomplished by either precision grinding (for large areas) or
hand-dressing with a stone (for smaller flaws). Both are services which Bender
includes in the Yankee face restoration procedure.
Regardless of the method of finishing, the Metso repair process is
technologically superior to traditional drilling and plugging. Experience has
shown that this new repair technique can restore a damaged dryer to service in
one-eighth the time required by drilling and plugging. Metso service techniques
are just a phone call away.
